Participation:

-I’m younger than 18 can i still participate?

Volunteers between 17 and 18 can participate in the painting project and if they have travel experience and are sure they can travel alone.

Groups of scouts with animators will be accepted no matter what the ages are.

-Do I need experience to participate?

We don’t require experience to participate in any of our project as this is a volunteer work. on the other hand we recommend the volunteer has enough skills to be sure that he/she will be able to do his/her task and complete it.

-witch nationalities will volunteers come from?

Our work camps are very international camps; volunteers are from all the nationalities over the whole world

Work camp methods:

Do we start work immediately after arrival?

The first 2 days are the introduction days in every project of ACJ, you will only begin working the 3rd day. Introduction activities will be organise for volunteers during the first 2 days like the following; Getting to know each other discovering the work places

-How many hours i will spend working?

For every project volunteers spend 3 to 4 hours working from Monday to Friday. Depending from the project and except from the painting project, volunteers will need 1 to 2 hours per day preparing before you start working, this will be done mostly in a meeting group.

-Will I have free time for myself?

Outside work time you are free, this means you can do activities with other members in the group or you do your things alone.

-Are there activities to do outside work time?

there is a lot to do in group like going to the swimming pool or to the Hamam or to the souk...but you can also do things alone like have a siesta or go to the internet café. In the weekends ACJ will organise weekend excursions to see the desert ,,Atlas, Ouzoud Falls.

-I don’t speak Arabic is it a problem for communication with kids?

Kids in Morocco know some French already but almost no English before the age of 13, from the previous experiences, volunteers never found communication problem to explain a game or a task, one of the Moroccan volunteers will be in every group to help in translating for the kids, and mostly kids understand games just by giving the first example.

Volunteers from Europe and North America don’t need a visa but just a passport to enter Morocco, however others from some other countries might need a Visa, please call the Moroccan embassy in your country to find out.

Do we travel in weekends?

In the weekends ACJ will organise weekend excursions to see Atlas ,Ouzoud Falls if your project is in the region of, Tadla Azilal. If your project is not in Bouznika, you will travel to the closest attraction.

Money/fees:

Why the participation fees?

ACJ doesn’t receive any money or aid from any organization or from the government. The organization survives with the participation fees of volunteers. ACJ has many expenses for the organization of work camps. Among the expenses there are advertising costs, administration costs, food, facilities for the accommodation, materials for work, and many more. Without the contribution of volunteers our projects simply can’t be organized.

What is included and excluded in the participation fees?

Accommodation, food, mineral water, introduction, work materials, excursion expenses, are included. Excluded are: costs of your flight and the transportation to travel from the airport to Beni Mellal city your own needs.

Why do I have to pay half of the participation fees in advance?

There are 2 reasons why we ask participation fees in advance. First, because we need money in advance for advertising and installation of work camps. These are expenditures which already need to be covered before the start of the work camp. The second reason is to secure your participation placement. Not everybody that applies for the work camps actually comes. We need to know the exact number of volunteers to prepare a project.

Where can I get Moroccan Dirham’s?

The Moroccon currency is Dirham, 1 Euro = about 11 Dirham, 1 Dollar = about 7,5 Dirham, 1 Pound = about 15 Dirhams. You can use your bank pass in every cash machine in Morocco, as long as you have Maestro, Visa or Mastercard. However you can also change bills from your currency to Dirham’s in every bank in Morocco.
